Description
This small, evergreen, very conspicuous tree with its nicely pinnate leaf pairs and red or white parrot beak-shaped flowers immediately catches the eye. With 5-10 cm in length, the flowers are quite large and consumed as a vegetable in Asia. The plant is a member of the pea family and is best cultivated as a tub plant. It produces a beautiful ramification and loves humidity and warmth. In Asia, the tree is also called “Gaway – Gaway tree“ (daily tree), Americans call it “scarlett wisteria tree“.
