Description
The pomegranate tree is one of the oldest cultivated plants and also one of the oldest potted plants. It was considered the greatest ornament to own a Punica tree. Therefore, even today in botanical gardens specimens can be found that are far older than a hundred years. It grows upright, is very heavily branched and becomes 2 to 5 meters high in nature. The leaves are bright green and the particularly red funnel flowers are often in groups between 3 and 5 at the shoot tips. However, the fruits will not mature here. All in all a beautiful, durable and robust container plant. Incidentally, pomegranate seeds and pomegranate juice are often used today in Mediterranean cuisine.
