Description
This wonderful potted plant is also called Pohutukawa (ironwood tree) by the Maoris. It has leathery evergreen leaves and from May onwards it is covered with many, mostly red flowers, the beauty of which is similar to the Australian eucalyptus flowers. The branches branch out on a relatively short trunk. The woody shoots are colored brown-red. Its homeland is the South Pacific in New Zealand and Australia. Today it is indispensable in southern Europe as a park and avenue tree or even as a hedge plant.
