These very unusual and extravagant looking plants are the most beautiful Echium-species and can also be raised in a tub. They develop 1 to 1,50 m tall dark blue flowers with red stamens. Once you have seen the impressive, cylindrical inflorescences you will never forget the viper’s bugloss, a name ascribed to the plants for its effect on snakebites. Echinum-species grow in highlands, in heights between 800 and 1400 metres.
