Indigenous to Tropical and subTropical Asia. Within our regions, basil Tulsi, also known as holy basil, can be perfectly cultivated indoors or outdoors, from May on. It develops into a 60-100 cm tall shrub with many finely haired branches with a woody stem at the bottom. The leaves are lengthy, slightly toothed and the flowers are of delicate pink colour. The word “tulsi” is Sanskrit for “the imcomparable one”. In Hinduism, basil tulsi is considered the holiest plant of all. Not only is it very popular as a culinary herb, it also has many medical purposes: It strengthens the immune system and above that is also used in Ayurvedic medicine.

Sowing Advice

Distribute the fine seeds on moist herb soil or cultivation soil, press on lightly and do not cover with soil. Keep evenly moist and warm.
