Description
The fast-growing, wild purple passion flower comes from South America and is popular because of its particularly firm and very sweet fruits. The hard, edible fruits form yellow-orange pulp, which is e.g. in Jamaica likes to use for juices and as an addition to wine. Therefore, the plant in English has the name `Sweet Cup` or` Sweet Calabash`.
This species is very different from the Linden-shaped leaves, which are not lobed as in many other passion flowers. It is evergreen and strongly creeping – that means its annual growth can be up to 8 m with sufficient warmth.
