Description

A vigorous vine with large, lobed leaves and fairly large, white and purple flowers followed by purplish, egg-shaped, edible fruits. Unlike the fruits of almost all other species, which are edible, they appear to be toxic when are unripe. The leaves and stems are conspicuously bristly and stick to clothes like velcro and fo that it is called ‘Velcro Passion Fruit’. Passiflora adenopoda is native to forests from southern Mexico along the Andes to Peru at low to medium elevations.
